Primary Research Areas

Risk Assessment & Risk Communication

Risk assessment information must be communicated to decision-makers in a way that reduces errors, bias, and ‘noise’. One of our primary goals is therefore to identify communication strategies that achieve these ends and result in evidence-based decision making.

Psychopathy

Psychopathy, a personality disorder characterized by callous affect, manipulation, and impulsivity, is often included in assessments of risk in the legal system. Our research examines both the reliability and validity of these assessments and the effect that psychopathy information has on decision-making.

Personality & Behaviour

Personality refers to the characteristic ways that people experience the world around them, how they think, how they feel, and how they act. Our research examines the relationship between different personality models and both prosocial (e.g., political ambition) and antisocial behaviours (e.g., cyberstalking).
