Dr. Julie Blais
Director
Dr. Julie Blais is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Dalhousie University. Prior to joining the department in July 2020, Dr. Blais was an Assistant Professor at Carleton University (2015-2020). She completed her doctoral work at Carleton University and held a post-doctoral fellowship at Brock University. Dr. Blais’ research can be divided into three interrelated areas: 1) examining forensic risk assessment and risk communication in the legal system, 2) understanding the role of psychopathy within risk assessments, and 3) examining personality correlates to both prosocial and antisocial behaviour, more broadly.
Luke Mungall
PhD Student
Luke Mungall is a PhD student in Experimental Psychology, who completed his BA in Psychology (Honours) at Mount Allison University in 2020. Luke is broadly interested in personality psychology, with specific interests in how personality traits influence political behaviours and attitudes. He is also interested in psychometrics, statistics, and science-based entrepreneurship.
Jennifer McArthur
PhD Student
​Jennifer McArthur is a PhD student in Experimental Psychology. She completed her BSc in Psychology (honours) and MSc in Applied Psychology from Saint Mary’s University. Jen’s background is in forensic psychology and her current research focuses on the causes and consequences of technology-facilitated violence. Her other research interests include personality and deception.
Charlotte Aelick
PhD Student, Clinical Psychology
Charlotte Aelick is a Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology. She previously studied at Laurentian University where she obtained her HBA and MA in Psychology. Charlotte's research focuses on topics in forensic psychology. She is primarily interested in treatment, recidivism, risk assessment, and psychopathy.
KJ Goruk
Master's student
KJ Goruk is a research assistant and MSc student in the lab. They completed their honour's thesis in the lab, which examined the perpetration of in-person and technology-facilitated sexual harassment in Canada. Their other research interests include relationship and sexual satisfaction in couples and examining barriers to support and treatment for those who have experienced sexualized violence.
George Fazaa
Research Assisant
George Fazaa recently graduated from Dalhousie with a Double Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and German and is currently working as a research assistant in the lab. He completed several projects in the lab examining the personality correlates of university cheating. He is currently responsible for supervising the lab’s volunteers and researching various aspects of forensic psychology (e.g., youth offending and recidivism). He is hoping to pursue a PhD in a related field.
Daphne Bolduc
Honours Student
Daphne Bolduc is currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She will be completing her honours thesis in the FPP lab, which will explore the effects of rape myth acceptance on jury decisions in a mock sexual assault trial. Her other research interests include developmental psychology and risk assessment in forensic psychology. She plans to pursue post-graduate education in a related field.
Emma Bishop
Honours Student
Emma is an incoming honours student in the FPP Lab and her project will focus on risk communication within the Canadian Justice System. Following her undergraduate studies, Emma plans to pursue a career in clinical psychology,
Samantha Williams
Research Assistant
Samantha Williams recently graduated from the MSc Applied Psychology (Forensic Stream) program at Saint Mary's University and is currently working in the lab as a research assistant. Samantha is broadly interested in studying sexual violence prevention and risk assessment. For her master's thesis, she completed a meta-analysis of the risk-related correlates of victim age polymorphism (i.e., sexually offending against victims in multiple age categories). In the future, she plans to pursue a PhD in forensic psychology.
Current Volunteers
Emma Isic is an undergraduate student in Psychology and is a volunteer in the lab. She is very interested in risk assessments and psychopathy. They hope to complete an honours degree in Psychology, with plans to pursue post-graduate education in the field of Forensics or Clinical Psychology.

Emily has been a volunteer in the Forensic Psychology and Personality lab since the Fall of 2022. She is majoring in Psychology at Dalhousie University and aspires to go to law school after completing her undergraduate degree. She enjoys being involved in and contributing to research in any way she can.
Emily MacPhee
Deniz is currently in the second year of completing her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, with a minor in philosophy. This is her first year volunteering in the FPP Lab. She is really interested in both developmental and forensic psychology, especially in the context of youth.
Deniz Yildirim
Anita is a volunteer in the lab. She is a 3rd year student, completing a BSc in Psychology with a minor in Gender and Women’s Studies. She is broadly interested in studying the intersection of sexual health and the criminal justice system. Anita plans to pursue graduate studies in Clinical Psychology.
Anita Aucoin
Luke is an undergraduate psychology student volunteering in the FPP lab. Luke has research interest in developmental psychology, specifically learning and skill acquisition. Luke is planning on pursing a career in the field of sports psychology.
