About
Technology-facilitated sexual violence (TFSV) includes a number of different behaviours such as online sexual harassment (unwanted sexual attention incurred online), gender- and sexuality-based harassment (unwelcome, insulting, or degrading comments referring specifically to the individual’s gender), cyberstalking (unwanted, repetitive, and threatening behaviour through electronic means), and image-based sexual abuse (distribution or threat of distribution of intimate or sexually explicit text, pictures, or videos).
Objectives
The objectives of our work on TFSV are to apply a public health framework to gain an accurate picture of the scope, magnitude, and consequences of TFSV in Canada. This includes identifying risk/need factors for the perpetration of TFSV that can inform future prevention programs, while also identifying available services for victims, barriers to accessing these services, and avenues for enhanced service delivery.
